App Lock

App lock requires your device's biometrics (Face ID, Touch ID, fingerprint) or your device PIN/passcode before Cruise Buddy will open. It's a single toggle: either every time, or never.

Turning it on

In Settings, toggle App lock on. Cruise Buddy will:

  1. Ask for the device's biometric or PIN authentication once, to confirm you can unlock it.
  2. Save the setting locally.

From then on, every cold start, every time the app comes back to the foreground, you'll see the lock screen.

Turning it off

Toggle App lock off. Cruise Buddy asks for one final authentication to confirm and then disables the lock.

Lock screen

If unlock fails, or you cancel the prompt, you'll see a "Cruise Buddy is locked" screen with an Unlock button. Tap it to retry.

The lock screen shows on cold start and whenever the app returns to the foreground after being backgrounded for more than a few seconds, so a quick switch to another app doesn't repeatedly prompt.

What's protected

App lock prevents the app from being opened by anyone without device authentication. It doesn't:

  • Encrypt the underlying data — your cruise data is stored in the app's local database, protected by the device's standard data protection.
  • Block share imports — opening a share link still hands you straight to the import screen so the person sharing with you can see what's coming in. The app lock kicks in next time you cold-start.

If biometrics aren't available

If the device has no biometrics enrolled, Cruise Buddy will fall back to the device PIN/passcode prompt. If neither is set up, the toggle will be disabled — set up a screen lock in your device settings first, then come back.
