Importing Documents from Other Apps ​

Cruise Buddy Plus

Filing a document into Cruise Buddy is part of Cruise Buddy Plus. Without it, a shared file waits on the import screen while you look at Plus.

Most of your booking paperwork arrives somewhere else first — a PDF e-ticket in your email, a boarding pass in Files, a confirmation screenshot in Photos. Instead of saving it and then adding it inside Cruise Buddy, you can share it straight to Cruise Buddy and choose where it belongs.

Where this works ​

Sharing into Cruise Buddy needs Cruise Buddy to be installed. Once it is, it appears in the share menu on:

  • Android — in Chrome and most other Android browsers.
  • Windows, Mac and Chromebook — when installed from Chrome or Edge.

iPhone and iPad

Apple doesn't let web apps appear in the iPhone or iPad share sheet. Save the file to Files or Photos first, then use Add a document in the cruise's Documents, a day's documents or a person's record.

How to send a file to Cruise Buddy ​

In the other app — Mail, Files, Photos, your browser, a messaging app — use Share and choose Cruise Buddy. You can share up to 10 files at once, up to 25 MB each and 50 MB in total.

PDFs and images are imported as they are. Shared text or a link to a web page is saved as a text file, so a confirmation number or a booking page's address ends up with your trip too.

Cruise Buddy opens an Import document screen listing what you sent.

Choosing where it goes ​

Under Attach to, choose a destination type and then the specific item:

  • Cruise — the cruise's Documents.
  • Itinerary day — a port or sea day's documents.
  • Hotel, Flight, Parking, Car hire or Other travel — a specific travel booking.
  • Person — someone in your People list, for a passport scan, visa or insurance policy.

Then tap Import. If you have no cruise or person to attach to yet, Cruise Buddy says so; add one first.

After importing ​

The file is filed where you chose, encrypted and synced to your other devices. The original stays in the app you shared it from.

If the import fails, the file stays waiting on the import screen so you can try again. Cancel discards it.
