Importing Documents from Other Apps

Most of your booking paperwork arrives somewhere else first — a PDF e-ticket in your email, a boarding pass in Files, a confirmation screenshot in Photos. Instead of saving it and then re-attaching it inside Cruise Buddy, you can send it straight to the app from wherever it lives and pick where it should be filed.

How to send a file to Cruise Buddy

From another app — Mail, Files, Photos, a browser, a messaging app — use the system Share sheet (iOS) or Share / Open with menu (Android) and choose Cruise Buddy. You can usually share more than one file at once.

Cruise Buddy opens an Import document screen showing what you sent, with a preview so you can confirm it's the right file before saving it.

PDFs, images and web pages

You can share PDFs and images directly. Shared text or a web page is converted to a PDF on the way in, so a confirmation page from a website becomes a tidy document attached to your trip.

Choosing where it goes

Pick a destination for the file. The available options depend on what you've already added:

  • Cruise — attach it to a cruise's Docs.
  • Itinerary day — attach it to a specific port or sea day (Day Documents).
  • Hotel, Flight, Parking, Car hire, or Other travel — attach it to a specific Travel booking.
  • Person — attach it to someone in your People list (for example, a passport scan or visa).

Choose the matching cruise or person, then tap Import. Travel and itinerary-day destinations only appear once you have a cruise to attach them to, and the Person option only appears when you have at least one person saved.

After importing

The file is copied into Cruise Buddy and shows up wherever you filed it — the cruise's Docs tab, a day's documents, a travel booking, or a person's record. The original stays put in the app you shared it from; Cruise Buddy keeps its own copy.

If you cancel before tapping Import, nothing is saved and the temporary copy is cleaned up.
