Cruise Buddy

People ​

People is your address book of travellers: passport, insurance, medical and contact details for everyone you cruise with. You enter someone once and reuse them on every cruise they join — Dave's passport is attached to Dave, not to one trip.

Free, apart from documents

People is free: the people, their details, and who is on which cruise. Documents — passport scans, visas and insurance policies — are part of Cruise Buddy Plus. Documents already stored against someone stay readable and can always be deleted.

Keeping these details private ​

People holds some of the most sensitive things in Cruise Buddy, so it's worth knowing how they're protected:

  • They're encrypted before they leave your device. We can't read them.
  • Each device keeps a readable copy so it works offline. On a shared or borrowed computer, lock the browser or sign out when you're done — and Cruise Buddy locks a browser on its own after seven days without use.
  • On your phone, use your phone's own screen lock.

The people list ​

Open People from the main navigation. Each person shows their name, and a flag if their passport or travel insurance is expiring soon or has expired.

Use Search people to filter by name, nationality, passport number or insurance provider. People also turn up in the app-wide search.

Adding a person ​

Tap Add Person (or Add your first person when the list is empty) and fill in whatever you know:

About them

  • Display name — required; this is how they appear everywhere in Cruise Buddy.
  • First name and Last name.
  • Phone and Email.

Passport

  • Nationality — suggested from the GOV.UK list of nationalities as you type, or type your own wording.
  • Passport number, Passport issue date and Passport expiry date.

Health and insurance

  • Medical insurance provider, Insurance policy / reference and Insurance phone.
  • Allergies and Medical notes.
  • Emergency contact name and Emergency contact phone.

Notes — anything else.

A person's page ​

Select someone to open their page. ← People takes you back, and Edit person opens the same form, filled in. The page has three sections:

  • Overview — contact details, emergency contact, the cruises they're on, and notes.
  • Documents — their passport details and their documents.
  • Medical — insurance, allergies and medical notes.

Anything missing shows a prompt such as Add passport number.

Documents ​

In a person's Documents section, tap Upload document to attach a PDF or image — a passport scan, a visa, a travel insurance policy. You can also share a file into Cruise Buddy and choose Person as its destination.

For travel insurance, add the policy's start and expiry dates. Cruise Buddy then warns you when a policy has expired or is about to, both here and on the people list.

A document can be marked as available for particular cruises, and a family insurance policy can list the people covered by this policy, so one PDF covers everyone without being uploaded four times.

Adding people to a cruise ​

Open a cruise and go to its People section:

  • Type a name. People from your other cruises are offered first, so you reuse the same person rather than creating a second copy of them.
  • If nobody matches, Cruise Buddy creates a new person with that name.
  • Remove takes someone off this cruise. It doesn't delete them from People.

Each person on a cruise shows their documents, where you tick which ones are for this cruise — so a passport renewed between trips doesn't attach itself to the old one.

People on a cruise appear in Your party on the Overview, in the passenger list for flights, as a driver for car hire, and when you record who was with you in the Journal.

Deleting a person ​

On the people list, open the actions for a person and choose Delete, then confirm. Their cruise links, journal tags and documents are removed too. Document files can't be restored once deleted.
