Spend Tab
The Spend tab tracks money spent on board the ship — drinks packages bought onboard, gift-shop purchases, tips, specialty dining, anything that goes on your cabin account. It's separate from the Balance tab, which tracks payments toward the cruise itself.

Onboard credit
If you entered an onboard credit value in the Price step of the wizard, Cruise Buddy adds it automatically as a negative spend item (category "Onboard credit", note "Cruise line onboard spend credit"). This way, the running total reflects what you'll actually owe at the end of the cruise.
If you change the onboard credit on the cruise (via Edit cruise), Cruise Buddy replaces the auto-generated spend item to match — your manually-entered spend is untouched.
Recording spend
Tap + to record a spend item. You'll be asked for:
- Amount.
- Category — pick from existing categories or type your own. Common categories include Drinks, Specialty dining, Gift shop, Excursions, Spa, Gratuities.
- Date — defaults to today.
- Itinerary day — optionally tag the spend to a specific port or sea day for richer reporting.
- Currency — defaults to GBP.
- Note — short description.
Totals
At the top of the tab Cruise Buddy shows:
- Total spend — the sum of every item, including the onboard credit (which is negative).
- By category — a breakdown by category.
If you've tagged spend items to itinerary days, the per-day totals show on the Overview section of the Itinerary Day screen too.
Editing or deleting
- Tap an item to edit any field.
- Swipe an item to Delete it.
Mixing currencies
Cruise Buddy stores each spend item with its own currency. There's no automatic conversion — totals are summed without converting, so if you're mixing GBP and USD on the same cruise the totals won't be meaningful unless you settle on one currency for all entries.
